IMMEDIATE POSITION OPENINGS |
RESIDENTIAL STAFF (Residential Support Assistant- "RSA") |
|
RSA's assist the residents of group homes and apartments with household and personal care needs, the levels of which depend on the home and the individual residents. While some individuals require a very high level of personal care needs, such as bathing, changing diapers, assistance with toileting, and mobility, others can take care of their own personal care needs. The typical workday of an RSA involves helping residents get up or go to bed, bathe and get ready for work, cooking meals, transporting residents to and from day programs, shopping, or taking the residents out on community activities of various sorts. At times it can be quite busy, but there is still time during the shifts to kick back and "hang out" with the residents. While the work environment is more or less a casual home setting, RSA's are expected to be professional and perform their duties in a caring and diligent manner. RELIEF staff fill in for regular RSA staff when they are sick, on vacation, or fill shifts temporarily when there is an opening. The Relief staff is expected to perform the same duties and receive the same training as regular staff. While they have a more flexible schedule and can decide which shifts they can work, they are expected to fill the shifts they commit to and are held to the same standards as regular staff. Many relief workers eventually move into full-time jobs. All residential and day program direct care workers at Community Options receive intensive training upon initial hire and during the first three months of employment. |
DAY PROGRAM STAFF |
|
Team Leaders work directly with the participants in various work training, employment, activities, and support capacities. Team Leaders must be able to work in an environment that is often busy, while at the same time be able to create and plan activities. It is essential that they are creative, have a good knowledge of successful work skills, and can teach these skills to the participants in the day program. Job Coaches are vocational specialists that provide job training and support to individuals who are working in community-based jobs. They must have a good knowledge of working skills, how to teach and train, and be able to work with employers and businesses. Day Program staff generally work daytime schedules, Monday through Friday. However, some Job Coaches are required to work evenings and weekends at the job sites of the individuals being served. |
